Ba-Humbug!

I've been hearing a lot of talk about Christmas in this household for the past few days.  This will be my first experience with it and I'm extremely curious to find out who this "Santa Claus" person is.  I've been rummaging around Bob's old belongings trying to find a few decorations for my bowl.  There isn't much, I don't think think he made it that far.

Christmas tree, lights, decorations...so much to do, so little time.  I'm a perfectionist.  I think that much is obvious when you look at my flawless face....

What's a fish to do for this castle?  It's drab, dull, so last year.  My elephant friend, Luke, isn't much help, he's a bit of a Scrooge and at this rate, if I can't find anything decent to spruce this place up, then I'll be saying "Ba-humbug!".  Excuse me, I'm still trying to learn all the Christmas lingo here, so thought I would test that one out.

Merry Chrstimas to all and to all a good night!!

Oh, my bad, it's not quite time for that phrase yet is it?

Introduction...

Well, I guess I'll introduce myself.  I'm Harold.  I'm a serious guy, very observant, and always suspicious.  There's things that happen outside of my bowl I don't always understand, but I'm determined to figure out the behaviours of my human family.  My "master" (well, we'll let him think he's that), Cameron, is a quirky little guy.  He's always "in my face" but like they say "don't bite the hand that feeds you", so I do my best to put up with his silly antics.  He's harmless, and loves me though.  Well, and I guess I love him too.

Don't know if I can say the same about his sister.  I see her watching me from a distance, pointing fingers.  Sometimes she grins, which makes me nervous.  I don't know what she's up to, but I keep an eye on her.

I've been a part of this family for well, let me think....a few months now.  They took me in when they lost Bob.  I hear stories about him from time to time.  I don't ask questions, I don't think I want to know the answer.  I took over his castle and sometimes, late at night, I feel his presence.  It's like I can sense him swimming around these chambers from time to time.  I don't think he minds me here, and hopefully he likes the way I decorated the place.

About me though, I'm blue.  Different shades of blue.  I touch of red here, a touch of white there.  Ya I know...I'm handsome.  I hear it a lot.  I've been blessed with this gorgeous body and silky smooth gills.   I have a bit of an attitude as well I'm told, but I don't believe it.  I think I just come across the wrong way sometimes.  Too bold.  But what's a fish to do?  I have no one to fight with, no ladies to woo, and I live in a bowl.  I think anyone would be a little feisty in these circumstances.

I think about my biological parents sometimes.  Do they think of me?  Do they miss me?  Why did they give me up?  All sorts of questions, no answers.  Maybe someday, but for now, I'm fitting in quite nicely with this young family.  They really do take good care of me.   Cameron watches me a lot, trying to figure me out just as much as I'm trying to figure him out.  I don't know how he survives outside of the bowl, it's odd.  One of the many things I observe.  I have a secret friend, an elephant that lives just on the outskirts of my bowl.  He's friendly, quiet.  Doesn't talk, but that's what I need, as I like to talk a lot...mostly about myself.   Here's a picture of us having one of our daily chats, I was trying to convince him to visit me in the bowl, but he wouldn't go for it.  He was silent.  A bit of a snob now that I think about it.

This blog explores my observations of life outside of the bowl and what goes on inside of the bowl that they don't know about.  You may be asking yourself how I'm able to blog.  "Fish can't blog.  Fish can't type. Blah blah blah."  Well, let's not get into the details about it, let's just let it be.  I'm here, I'm blogging, I'm a fish.  It's as simple as that.  This castle is much bigger and well equipped than my family would ever guess.

So here's to blogging!  For now, I'm going to go work on my bubble nest.  Cameron's mom cleaned my bowl yesterday and ruined my last nest.  So once again, I'll be up late fixing what was lost.  Until my next blog, take care and happy bubbles!
